A snapshot from a recent visit to KesselsKramer in Amsterdam.
This is a custom-designed chair prototype. The idea was that the consumer would buy the metal cube, take it home and then pound it into whatever shape they found to be the best fit.
It’s an inversion of the Ikea model: instead of trying to put together a chair from a diagram and then having a violent emotional meltdown when you discover you’ve totally fucked it up, with this chair you can release your anger from the beginning as it’s intrinsic to the design process.
I would really love one of these right now.
